Join us Thursday 15th August for a fun and educational science craft activity where children will explore the fascinating world of glass using a polariscope!
This event will combine hands-on science with creative colouring to help kids learn about the hidden stresses inside glass.
Suitable for ages 7 +.
Adult ticket: £7.50 – includes museum admission.
Kids go free for this activity and museum admission during the school summer holidays!
A drop-in activity. Visit the museum, drop in to the activity room anytime between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm, to participate in this activity.
Activities:
Polariscope Viewing:
Discover how a polariscope works.
Look through the polariscope to see colourful patterns in glass objects.
Learn how these patterns show us where the glass is stressed and why it happens.
Colouring Fun:
Get creative with a special colouring activity where you’ll design your own “stressed glass” patterns.
Use bright colours to mimic the patterns seen through the polariscope.
Interactive Learning:
Hands-On Science: Engage with real scientific tools and see amazing visual effects.
Creative Crafting: Enjoy a fun colouring activity that helps reinforce what you’ve learned.
Educational Fun: Learn about the science of glass in a way that’s easy to understand and super fun!
